An Innovative Industrial Designer Repurposes An Iconic Favorite

John Marc Anderson was reared by an officer in United States Air Force who was a notorious tinkerer. Growing up all over the USA and the world, Marc and his four siblings were always fixing, building, reinventing, and repurposing objects. His Dad familiarized all of his kids with tools and skills at a young age. After college, Marc began an eclectic career in business, creating startups or purchasing businesses in almost every conceivable industry. He has owned a commercial sign shop, a sheet metal shop, two production florist businesses both retail and wholesale, and created one of the largest chain of specialty furniture businesses in the country.

From there he expanded into e-commerce, and currently owns one of the largest natural and chemical free bedding businesses on the web. He is an internationally recognized artist, specializing in relief and sculpture, and created his first modified airline beverage carts in 2007.

This was the cart that started it all. Marc's first mini cart, the cart found on small regional jets, was finished in aluminum diamond plate, like the full size cart shown below. It had two glass shelves and one drawer and a cutting board surface. This post card was sent out to his art clientele in summer, 2007. Ten years later, SkyHigh Carts now produces the highest quality repurposed airline beverage carts available.

Marc's Original Full Size Beverage Cart...Still A Classic

Marc's first modified full length cart, built in 2009, was built on the platform typically used on 737's and larger aircraft equipment. He also did a few small carts, found on web sites fairly often, but realized that they easily tipped over and were not large enough to have the visual impact or storage space he liked. Today, the Aluminum Diamond Plate cart he created is still offered on this site.

First using retired, vintage carts, he quickly learned that a brand new, unscathed cart, made the best template for practical use as home or work furnishing.

Today, his company, SkyHigh Carts, is the most popular source for full size, working, repurposed airline beverage carts. Limited only by your imagination, this beloved and iconic symbol of freedom and sheer pleasure loved by all, is available to you. Each cart is signed on the underside by Marc himself- after all, it is an original work of art!
